Shunkyo Semi-Long Radish
Per 8oz - this year we are trying out many different coloured specialty or also know as winter radishes. They are wonderful for storing and all belong to the daikon family with leaves that are edible, very similar to mustard greens. The radishes can be eaten with or without the skin.
Whole winter radishes will keep two - three weeks stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.
A distinctive specialty radish from Northern China. The smooth, deep pink - red, cylindrically shaped roots and have crisp, white flesh. The flavour is both hot and unusually sweet. The flesh can be thinly sliced and tossed into green salads and slaws. Grated into coleslaws, sliced in half and served on veggies platters with dips, juiced, used as a fresh topping over tacos, or cut and layered as a bright addition to toasted bread with butter. Try them added as a crunch in wraps and sandwiches, and enhanced flavour in stews and soups. The radishes will also develop a tender texture when roasted, sautéed, braised, or stir-fried, and the roots can be sliced and pickled or fermented as a tangy condiment.
