Chicken Update - Reel

Our big strong boys moved into their forever home a little while ago! Now they get full range of fresh bugs, weeds and the compost pile. Their shelter is tipi style and they seem to enjoy and feel safe in there. They handled their first night well, even though we did get a late night thunderstorm and temperatures dropped significantly. In the morning they got fresh treats of beet and carrot tops for handling the scary storm so well. It is official, our freezer is empty of 22’ birds! We learned much and more from last year’s experience. None of us have ever had a chicken or butchered anything bigger than a fish before. Truly inspiring to be able to provide ourselves protein year round.
