Local Potatoes VS Grocery Store

Some people say it’s cheaper to buy their food products in big grocery stores versus shopping local. Of course that can be true for many items but not necessarily a rule across the board. For example, take these beautiful gourmet fingerling potatoes and compare them to what we can get in our local stores.

Ours;

-3lb bag for $5 (custom order are possible too)

-Grown, washed and packaged in Central Alberta

-NO bleach water or anti sprouting agents used

-Works as an eating potato or can be used as seed in the spring

-Free local pick up weekly or get them delivered

Others;

-3lb bag for $9

-Farms across the USA and Canada are involved in both growing and packaging.

-No grocery store in our city offers delivery

-Sprayed to ensure their is no chance sprouting - cannot work as a seed

Let’s say you eat a bag of potatoes once a week for the month of January, you would be saving $20 a month by switching over to local potatoes. If you did that for a year, you could save yourself $208. I wonder how many small shopping changes we could make to improve our health and wealth.

Just some food for thought.
