Chinese Lunar New Year - Reel

In Chinese culture eating wontons is a symbol of luck, wealth and treasure, due to the shape closely resembling the sliver ingot. With similar pronunciation with “hundun”, which translates to beginning and today is the beginning of their year. It seemed fitting to enjoy the whole process of creating homemade wontons at home.

Using our home raised ground chicken, grated or minced homegrown carrots, celery, onion, garlic, kohlrabi, winter radish, local blue oyster mushrooms, ginger and bean sprouts. Mixed with a splash of fish sauce, salt, white pepper, Chinese five spice, soya sauce, rice wine vinegar and dried chilies. We add a spoonful of our filling onto our wrapping papers and close the edges with water. We doubled fried in beef tallow for the best crunch, steamed and boiled some as well.

Our crew is out for deliveries and drop offs tomorrow in Central Alberta area, last call on orders! February schedule is the 13th & 27th. We have some new items up on the website, zucchini relish, garlic powder, cilantro and lime hot sauce and purple basil hot sauce.
